of south St. Louis County, born November 17, 1925, was happy to meet her Lord God Almighty at age 94 as she passed peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2019.

Dear wife of the late Alvin Kuechler; dear mother of Donna (Don) Oppliger, Bonnie (Paul) Burckin, Roger Kuechler, and Darryl Kuechler; dear grandmother of Scott and Darren Oppliger, Melinda Winter, David Burckin, and Jessica Kuechler; dear great-grandmother of Addison, Peyton, Julia and Olivia Oppliger; dear sister of Jean (Bill) Armstrong, Karen Dennis and the late Wilma Karlson; dear sister-in-law of the late Emil and Gene Kuechler, and the late Neoma Azenhofer.

Marlyn, an avid gardener, is now gardening in heaven. She was also a lover of words who enjoyed reading along with word games and puzzles. She spent years raising her four children before working as a saleswoman at the old Famous-Barr, as a switchboard operator for Bayless School District and as an office worker at the Lutheran Laymen’s League. She was a longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church in Affton.

Services: Private family interment Tuesday, December 17. Memorial service Salem Lutheran Church, 8343 Gravois Road, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 17. Memorials to Salem Building Fund.

Wray Richard Malsch, 69 years old, of St. Louis, MO passed away unexpectedly Sunday Dec. 15, 2019.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Carol, of 48 years, daughter Michelle (Rich), sister Valerie, mother-in-law June, brother-in-law Scott (Patty), niece Julia, nephew Jason (Angie), great-nieces Savannah and Makenna, as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Wray was a proud Marine Corp Veteran.  He loved to walk in the park with his companion of 11 years, his beloved Brutus.  He also was a big football fan and especially fond of the Philadelphia Eagles. He retired from pharmaceutical sales and soon after accepted a great opportunity as a substitute teacher at the Hancock School District.  He really enjoyed working at Hancock School District and working with the staff and the students.

Both Visitation & a short Memorial service is Saturday 12/28, at Kutis South County, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd, St. Louis 63129. Visitation 1:00-3:00 p.m. & memorial service at 3:00 p.m.  He will be cremated and no burial is planned.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Semper Fi Fund at https://semperfifund.org/ or APA Adoption Center of St. Louis, Stray Rescue or the Humane Society of Missouri.

Karen Marie Peterson of Dallas, Tx, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2019.

Karen was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Walsh, and brother, William Lohmann; her mother Vera Lohman and father William.  Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 29 years, Joseph Walter Peterson; her sons, Brent Frerck and Mark Frerck; and many other family members and dear friends.

Karen was born in St. Louis to William and Vera Lohmann on June 5, 1941.  She received bachelor degrees and teaching certificate from the Houston Baptist College where she graduated with honors.  She went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Houston at Clear Lake, earning honors as well.  Her chosen career of teaching spanned over 30 years and included both high school and senior high school classes in History, English and Psychology.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, she will be missed by all who knew her.  She was a devout Christian and a member of Bethel Church in Dallas, Texas and Grace Reformed Christian Church in Harrison, Arkansas. Graveside Services will be held at park Lawn Cemetery (St. Louis, MO) Friday, December 20, 12 Noon,  (Meeting at cemetery Gates) 11:45 a.m.

Muehlhauser, Sargent Helmut Charles

Sargent Helmut Charles Muehlhauser, 89, of St. Louis, died Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Stonecrest at Burlington Creek for Senior Living, surrounded by his family.  The son of John Otto and Emilie (Taubald) Muehlhauser, Helmut was born December 16, 1930, in Nurnberg, Germany. During 1932 Helmut came over from Germany and became a citizen after World War II in 1945. Upon becoming a U.S. citizen he chose Charlie Grimm’s name of the Cubs as his U.S. citizen name, Charles, and went by Chuck.

Chuck grew up in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin and spent his summers working in a cherry canning factory picking cherries. A veteran of the Korean War for 3 years; he served as a medic on the front lines. He graduated from Lawrence with a BS in Science and from Kansas State with a Masters in Geology.

Chuck met Susan Wright during college and they were married within a year. Chuck had met the love of his life and loved her dearly. Together they enjoyed traveling, playing bridge and valued their loving family. Chuck retired from Defense Mapping Agency in St. Louis. In his spare time he took up baking and was an avid tennis player; he took 2nd place in the Senior Olympics. Chuck loved sports and was a diehard Cardinals and Green Bay Packers fan.

He is survived by his son, Chuck Muehlhauser of St. Louis, MO; his daughters, Susie Iiams and Beth Muehlhauser both of Kansas City, MO. Chuck will be fondly remembered by his two grandchildren, Callie (Joe) and Jason; and two great grandchildren, Matthew and Nell all from Kansas City, MO. He is preceded in death by his wife, Susan, his parents John Otto and Emilie, and his sister Sigrid Muehlhauser.

Services: Visitation at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, Monday, December 30, 10:00 a.m. until service at 12:00 noon. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association – Great Missouri Chapter, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63132 or to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, PO BOX 98018, Washington, DC 20090-8018 appreciated.
