Davis, Alfred E.
Baptized into the hope of Christ’s resurrection, July 26, 2017. Al was born 8/13/28 in Berkley Michigan, the youngest of 3 children. He is preceded in death by his parents Alfred & Mary and sisters Edna (Jack) Wieneke and Rita (Maynard) Tewson, as well as his wife Pauline Davis.
Al served in World War II and Korea as a Private First Class in the US Marine Corps. He was awarded several commendations for superior service and excellent marksmanship. He also served as a Technical Sargent in the United States Air Force. He met Pauline Lacher in Minneapolis, MN and they married in Bermuda in 1958. After his honorable discharge, Al worked various jobs and served his pre-retirement years as a letter carrier – NALC Branch 343 – Gravois. After retirement, Al & Pauline spent a few years in Florida where they made many friends. They returned to St. Louis in 1996 to enjoy retirement with family.
Al is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shelly & Joe Warner & granddaughters Abby and Madeline Warner. He leaves behind close family including his niece Sue (Harold) Israelson and nephew Lawrence Herron, with whom he had a very special bond. Al was lucky to have a dear friend in Mary Rowden. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle, great-uncle and friend to all. He loved life and lived it to the fullest!
Services: Funeral services will be held Friday, August 4th at 11:30 at Kutis Chapel – Affton. Burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery immediately following.
