Morgan, Sr. Captain James P. was born December 7, 1932 to Lamay Stofiel and Harry Morgan. He was the fifth child of six and is survived by his only sister Virginia Krauss and one brother. He is also survived by his wife, Mae Morgan, and three stepchildren, Gail, Sharon, Bert, and six step grandchildren, JD, Jamie, Shelita, Jeramee, and Tiffany and Gessica. His grandchildren meant everything to him as he did not have any that he got to see on a regular basis. Let’s not forget his great step grandchildren that were dearest to his heart, Braylon, Carter, Jaden, Trinity and Kennedy. He had five children Jeannie, Connie, Karen, Carol and James Morgan, Jr., deceased. Captain as he liked to be called started working when he was just 17 years old. He enjoyed being a boat captain all his life that was his greatest accomplishment and he would tell anyone that was willing to listen. “Oh lord here comes the book”, as his wife Mae would often say when a story of his began. Although Mae and James met later on in life they would tell anyone that they were the best thing that every happen to one another. He was a giving man and would often help those he felt were “trying to make it.” Captain James Moran passed away on May 26, 2016 due to a battle with cancer. He loved his family dearly and did not want them to worry about him all the way up until his last days. The question was asked how are you Pop, he stated, “Everything is copasetic.”
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of the Optimum Hospice and Ducthtown Rehabilitation Center. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over the last month were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.
